Dr Dharmawardhane had his initial surgical training in Sri Lanka and was Board certified as a Gastrointestinal Surgeon in 2008. He had further postgraduate training as an Upper Gastrointestinal Fellow at the Monash Medical Center in Melbourne. After further rural fellowships at the Royal Darwin Hospital and Alice Springs Hospital he obtained the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2015.
He moved to Toowoomba in 2016 and has been involved in emergency and elective work at the Toowoomba Base Hospital. Dr Dharmawardhane obtained a further postgraduate Diploma from the University of Adelaide in Minimally Invasive Surgery in 2016. His special interests are Upper GI surgery including anti-reflux procedures, colorectal surgery and laparoscopic surgery (keyhole surgery). He is a GESA certified endoscopist with procedural skills in both gastroscopy and colonoscopy.
He loves to travel in his free time and is a keen photographer.
